SOME IMPORTANT COMBINATIONS

Yoga means combination of planets. As already explained, there are 9 planets which are placed at different places in a horoscope. This placement of planets or combination of planets creates certain yogas which have certain specific results. Some of the important yogas are given below :

1. Ruchak yoga

Formation : When Mars is posited in its own, or Mool Trikona or exaltation sign in an angular position from Ascendant, this yoga is formed.

Result : Energetic, strong, rash, thin waiste, courageous, strongly built, bilious nature, wealthy, rich, winning in struggles of life, favourite of the rulers, supervisors

2. Bhadra Yoga

Formation : When Mercury is posited in its own, or Mool Trikona or exaltation sign in an angular position from Ascendant, this yoga is formed.

Result : Intelligent, skilled in art, long-lived, courageous, respectful to religious gurus, doing own business, well-built body (chest, arms, stomach), clever, good in speech; windy, bile and phlegmatic problems

3. Hamsa Yoga

Formation : When Jupiter is posited in its own, or Mool Trikona or exaltation sign in an angular position from Ascendant, this yoga is formed.

Result : Religious, favours from elders, respected by Govt, respectful to elders, famous, generous, long-lived, happy, wealthy, phlegmatic

4. Malavya Yoga

Formation : When Venus is posited in its own, or Mool Trikona or exaltation sign in an angular position from Ascendant, this yoga is formed.

Result : Worldly enjoyments, pleasures of life, sexual pleasures, fond of music, ornaments, furniture, dresses, opposite sex, phlegmatic an windy problems, graceful body

5. Sasa Yoga

Formation : When Saturn is posited in its own, or Mool Trikona or exaltation sign in an angular position from Ascendant, this yoga is formed.

Result : Cruell, leader, head of a village, jealous, working for self, enjoying servants

The above are called Panch Mahapurush Yogas.

6. Kemdrum Yoga

Formation : When there are no planets in II and XII houses from Moon, this yoga is formed.

Result : Misery, poverty throughout life, under debt, wicked deeds, fond of sensual pleasures, poor, No brothers/sisters, wife, son; dependant, always travelling, struggling, poor, jealous, In general this yoga can neutralise all good yogas in a horoscope.

Notes : This yoga gets cancelled if - i. Moon is in conjunction with any other planet, ii. There are planet(s) in angular position from Moon iii. Moon is in angular position to Ascendant, or iv. Moon is in his own or exaltation sign.

7. Adi Yoga

Formation : When the benefic planets (Mercury, Jupiter, Venus) occupy VI, VII, VIII houses from Ascendant, this yoga is formed.

Result : high status, rank, prosperous, enjoying pleasures, famous, having conveyances, good wife, obedient sons, no diseases and dangers, long life, defeating enemies,

Notes : This yoga may be checked from Sun and Moon also. In this yoga, there should be no aspect of malefics on VI, VII, VIII houses and there should be no malefic in IV house

8. Amla Yoga

Formation : When a benefic planet occupies X house from Ascendant or Moon, this yoga is formed.

Result : Prosperous, landlord, name and fame throughout life, good sons,

9. Anapha Yoga

Formation : When there are planets (Except Sun) in XII from Moon, this yoga is formed.

Result : Healthy, moral, free from mental worries, name and fame, fond of sensual pleasures, royal appearance, high position, renouncing the worldly life in later life

10. Sunapha Yoga

Formation : When there are planets (Except Sun) in II from Moon, this yoga is formed.

Result : Self-made man, self-acquired wealth, intelligent, reputed, name and fame

11. Durdhura yoga

Formation : When there are planets (Except Sun) in II and XII from Moon, this yoga is formed.

Result : Enjoyment of all pleausres, owning conveyance, liberal, generous, commanding, dutiful and faithful children

12. Vasi Yoga

Fomation : When there are benefic planets in XII from Sun, this yoga is formed.

Result : Intelligent, rich and wealthy, high status

13. Vesi Yoga

Formation : When there are benefic planets in II from Sun, this yoga is formed.

Result : Fluent speaker, wealthy, courageous, extremely charitable, good speech

14. Mahabhagya Yoga

Formation : ( For Males) - When a person is born in day in male asterism (Hasta, Punarvasu, Pushya, Anuradha, Aswini, Poorvabhadra, Uttrabhadra), and the Ascendant Lord, Sun and Moon be in odd signs, this yoga is formed. (For Females) - When a person is born in night in female asterisms (remaining asterisms) and the Ascendant Lord, Sun and Moon be in even signs, this yoga is formed.

Result : Favoured by elders, high officials, superiors, good authority, wealthy, rich, blessed with children, all comforts and enjoyments, long-lived, learned and defeating everyone

15. Ubhayachari Yoga

Formation : If a planet other than Moon occupies XII and II houses from Sun, this yoga is formed. Saubhagyachari Yoga, if benefic planets are there. Papubhayachari Yoga, if malefic planets are there.

Result : Talkative, intelligent, strong, taking care of his relatives, favours from Govt, superiors, active, eloquent, sympathetic, helping others, (diseases, poor, dependent on others : Papubhayachari)

16. Kahal Yoga

Formation : If the Lords of IV and IX (or Jupiter) be in an angular position, with respect to each other and if the Ascendant Lord is strong, this yoga is formed. If the Lords of IV and X are together(or if the Lord of X aspects Lord of IV), and the Lord of IV is in own/exaltation sign, this yoga is formed.

Result : Learned, beautiful appearance, disciplined, obedient to superiors, enjoying life, obstinate, adventurous, heading town councils, senses under control, good moral character

17. Chamara Yoga

Formation : If a person is born in day in the bright half of the month (Shukal Paksh), and the Ascendant Lord is in his exaltation sign, with the Jupiter in an angular position (or powerful aspect of Jupiter on Ascendant Lord), this yoga is formed.

Result : Long-lived, wealthy, happy, serving in fields requiring courage, virtuous deeds, profound scholar, well-read, professor of vedas, aristocratic

18. Pushkala Yoga

Formation : If the Lord of the sign occupied by Moon in conjunction with Ascendant Lord posited in the house of a very friendly planet or in an angle and strong benefics aspect the Ascendant Lord, this yoga is formed.

Result : Royal family, wealthy, famous, blessed with power, authority, enjoying all comforts of life, sweet speech, respected by rulers, Govt, protector of lands

19. Kleeta Yoga

Formation : If all planets are posited in III, VI, X and XII apoklima houses, this yoga is formed.

Result : Miserable in life, relations with low-class females, lives away from home, country,

20. Mangla Yoga

Formation : When all the planets are posited in angular houses with respect to the Ascendant, this yoga is formed.

Result : Lucky, performing auspicious ceremonies, eloquent, powerful, long-lived, intelligent, wealthy

21. Karak Yoga

Formation : If two or more planets are in exaltation sign or own sign and are in mutual angular position, this yoga is formed.

Result : High status, rank, wealthy, name and fame

Note : According to some saints, these two planets should also be in quadrant from Ascendant.

22. Kartari Yoga

Formation : (Shubh Kartari) - If benefics occupy II and XII houses from Ascendant, this yoga is formed. (Pap Kartari) - If malefics occupy II and XII houses from Ascendant, this yoga is formed.

Result : Shubh Kartari - Wealthy, courageous, strong, enjoying life Pap Kartari - Poor, afraid, weak, deprived of pleasures of life

23. Rajyogas

Formation : There are various ways in which Rajyogas occur. Some of these are given below :

1. When three or more planets are in own or exaltation sign and are in angulara houses'

2. Moon in angular house and Jupiter aspecting it

3. IXth Lord in IX or X

4. Xth Lord in IX or X

5. IXth Lord and Xth Lord in Xth

Result : As the name indicates, these yogas give name, fame, wealth, and honour.

24. Wealth Yogas

Formation : Some of the wealth-yogas are given below : 1. When IXth and XIth Lords are associated, 2. When IXth and IIth Lords are associated, 3. When Ist and II Lords are associated 4. When IInd and XIth Lords are associated 5. When Xth and IInd Lords are associated 6. When Xth and IVth Lords are associated 7. When VIIth and IInd Lords are associated 8. When Ist and XIth Lords are associated 9. When Ist and Xth Lords are associated 10. When IInd and VIIth Lords are associated, etc. etc.

Result: Wealthy

25. Kalsarpa Yoga

Formation : When all planets are hemmed in beteween Rahu and Ketu, this yoga is formed.
